The new 2008 Shelby GT500KR is a performance car that knows how to manage pressure, thanks to carbon fiber components that do more than just look fast. The new GT500 “King of the Road” features the first carbon fiber hood for Ford or Shelby. The carbon fiber hood is a sculpted work of art, with the right science under its skin to deliver a real performance impact.
“This is our first-ever production application of carbon fiber, and it is fitting that we developed it with Shelby Automobiles,” said Ford SVT chief program engineer Jamal Hameedi. “It’s there purely for performance. It brings important aerodynamic and weight-reduction benefits that translate into enhanced performance for our new King of the Road.” Continue reading ‘GT500KR Carbon Fiber Hood A First For Ford & Shelby’
A Mustang made to imitate a bull made an appearance via a Ford commercial the other night on American Idol with the four remaining contestants, well just three but who’s counting. The music video spot for Ford was matched with the Johnny Cash hit ‘Ring of Fire’. The Idol’s were the bullfighters and the Mustang played the part of a bull with red headlights for eyes and NOS being purge from the nostrils. Check out the video after the jump…
News that Ford Motor Company had reached the 9 Million mark with Mustang sales has been all over the net in recent weeks and now the mystery of where the car has landed is over. The lucky owner of the 9 Millionth Mustang is farmer Thomas Krumm from rural Story City, Iowa who ordered his Vista Blue Mustang GT convertible unknowingly through his local Ford dealer. Krumm picked up his Mustang on May 6th and found out that he bought a piece of history.
Krumm, a farmer from rural Story City, became interested in Mustangs through his daughter, Rachael, a Mustang enthusiast who saved enough money to buy her first Mustang at age 17. Continue reading ‘9 Millionth Mustang Finds a Home In Iowa’

A member over at themustangsource.com forums posted up a few photos of a pre-production 2009 California Special GT/CS with the Glass Roof option and new White stripe option. The Glass Roof looks pretty sweet and the white stripe really stands out unlike the black one previously put on all 2007-08 GT/CS models. Word from the forum is that a Ford employee who lives in the house drove the car home.

When you have no technical knowledge about your Mustang and you think you do your really asking for trouble especially if someone has a camera in your face. One lucky V6 Mustang owner has found out the hard way as he goes off telling the camera man his modifications which don’t make any sense at all. He than proceeds to tell the cameraman he will be adding twin turbos and a supercharger in 4-5 months for a trifecta of power adders. I have to give props to the cameraman as he has some sweet comments. This is some funny stuff, check out the video above.
Whoever thought an Aston Martin Vanquish V12 engine would ever make it’s way into an S197 Mustang, well it did and the end result is one badass Mustang. The photos of this car were floating around months ago when the build was going on and even then I never expected what you see in the video. The exterior of the car sports a GT500 front end, a Saleen rear, custom wheels and a nice shade of blue paint. The interior is all custom with modified gauges, dvd navigation and blue/black racing seats. Check out the video above to see all the good stuff.
Man builds 1967 Mustang out of Legos complete with real suspension, shaker hood, doors and a model V8 engine. The Lego creation also features working gears and a removable body. If you look at it long enough you can tell it’s a Mustang. Check out the photos below and the video above.
We have known for a little over a month now Ford is extending production of the Bullitt into the 2009 model year. Those details came out when Ford released the 2009 Mustang Order guides back in March showing a Bullitt model was available for order but there was no mention of how many 2009 Bullitts would be produced. Those details emerged last Friday via Dan Jarvis of FoMoCo who spoke with IMBOC.com and he confirmed Ford will not produce more than the previously stated 7,700 units which means there will only be about 2,100 units built for 2009.
“We absolutely will honor our original statement about building 7,700 Bullitts. We will not build BULLITT beyond the 7700 announced.” Dan stated in email with IMBOC, “We built about 5,600 for the 2008 model year, and the rest will be 2009s.” Continue reading ‘Ford Confirms 2009 Bullitt Production Details’
